The Business Side of Wedding Services

What I’ve learned so far.

Full disclosure. I’ve been in the wedding business since 2013 starting out as an officiant, and continually adding services to include Wedding Planning, Day of Coordination, Bartending, MC Services, and now Custom Dress Making.

If you’re new to the wedding industry, you may find some of these facts and tidbits helpful. If not, you’ll probably grow bored to death or on a more positive note, learn something new that you can utilize to help your own business continue to grow.

The one thing that I tend to be subpar at, is advertising, so if you’re looking for all the in’s and outs of SEO’s and advertising, I have to advise you. Don’t waste your time here. My primary focus is client and vendor relations and growing organically via word of mouth and posting sporadically in Facebook wedding groups.

If you’re asking why I don’t do much with advertising, the fact is I like where I am at this point in time. My growth is slow but consistent which allows me time to build constructive relationships with both my clients and the vendors that I work with. In doing so, most of my leads are via word of mouth. Most people that contact me, have already made up there mind, and I don’t have to spend much time with people who are just price shopping or not quite ready to commit.

I put as much information on my website as humanly possible because being transparent is important. If you observe any Wedding Support Groups, there is a lot of mistrust of vendors who keep most of their information private and require them to contact you before getting any information on pricing or services what so ever. So, if you haven’t already. I highly recommend making your contract, pricing, and available services available to view on your website.
